HP ELITEBOOK 835 G8
Design
The majority of the EliteBook case is made of aluminum. Plastic is used for the LCD bezel, the top part of the display back, and the inner frame underneath the aluminum palm rest. As a result, the HP ELITEBOOK 835 G8 is not quite as resistant to torsion as a laptop with an aluminum unibody. The display lid and palm rest handle punctual pressure very well, however, and the keyboard doesn’t give way anywhere. Workmanship is perfect, and the feel is very high quality, except for the cheap-looking plastic strip on the display. The wide drop-down hinge with a plastic cover hardly allows any wobbling. You can also open the screen with one finger but only up to 165 degrees.
Storage
The biggest advantage of the HP ELITEBOOK 835 G8: It has two DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM slots at once, allowing a maximum of up to 64 GB RAM. HP sells the EliteBook with 08 GB by default. There’s an M.2 256GB SSD with a capacity of up to 1 TB as mass storage device.
Keyboard
HP uses a smaller layout on the HP ELITEBOOK 835 G8 than on the larger EliteBook 830 G8. The dedicated navigation keys on the right have been eliminated as well as the context menu button. Fortunately, the remaining keys are the same size, though, with the vertical arrow keys being very small here as well. The smooth backlit keys have a travel of about 1.5 mm. You can type very well with them, since the pressure point is well defined and crisp. Subjectively, the keyboard of the ThinkPad is still a bit better, but HP can keep up quite well.
Keypad
The HP ELITEBOOK 835 G8 can somewhat compensate for the resulting disadvantage with its better touchpad compared to the ThinkPad, especially because the glass surface is simply better than plastic. The mechanics of the ClickPad have a crisp, high-quality pressure point, and there’s nothing to complain about either in terms of driver technology thanks to Microsoft’s Precision touchpad driver.
Processor
The AMD Ryzen 7 5800U with AMD Radeon Graphics is the fastest processor in the Ryzen Pro series for business PCs. Nominally, the CPU has a TDP of 15 watts. HP gives it twice as much with about 30 watts. As a result, the HP ELITEBOOK 835 G8 performs extremely well Compared to the Intel ELITEBOOK 830 G8 the is HP ELITEBOOK 835 G8 about 70% faster in multi-core performance
